Beskid
Dances & Songs from Beskid region: which is in southern Poland. The simple costumes reflects the simple life of the region inhabitants. These dances are performed by the senior girls.
Goralskie Tance
A collection of lively songs and dances from the Tatry region of Poland. While the girls sing from mountain tops, boys show off their skills with their mountain sticks. This dance is performed by the middle group.
Gypsy Polka
This colourful dance is a non-stop, energetic medley of upbeat music. This dance is performed by the middle group.
Line Dance
An international favourite. Keeping ties with our Canadian home, the group performs line dancing to upbeat country music with cowboy hats, andsmiling faces.
Krakowiak
This is the most characteristic national dance of Poland, where the colourful costumes, as well as the tempo of the music lights up the stage. Canadian Line Dance This energetic display of Western Canadian culture is performed in country costumes. Tance Kurpiowskie This dance comes from the North Eastern region of Poland. The lively ‘Fafur’ opens the dance with couples of the junior group skipping onto the stage. The dance is filled with polkas and waltzes, and the ever characteristic Olender.
Krosno
This collection of dances from the Krosno region was choreographed by visiting instructor Pani Alicja Haszczak. The simple but fun costumes add to the lively culture of this region of Poland.
Kujawiak Oberek
A national dance characterized by a changing tempo, from slow and sentimental melodies, to a fast and boisterous rhythms. Often when men went to the fields young girls would get together and sing few songs and dance a little. This particular dance features stary dziadek, meaning older grandfather, having some fun with the single girls.
Kurpie
From the prosperous primeval forests of Northeastern Poland comes a robust and refined suite of dances. Beginning with the dance "Konik" (the horse), where men and women prance around the stage separately mimicking the characteristics of the horse where in the end they join up and dance in couples. Since the individuals living in this region took care of these great forests as servants for the King, as a result, some dances are refined and graceful as were the noblemen of the king, which is reflected in the waltz. Numerous flirtatious and vibrant dances follow, all climaxed by the rousing "Powolniak" and “Fafur” dances, which fills the stage with swirling dancers.
Lubelskie
Dance from the Lublin region are always a favourite because of the bright and colourful costumes. This suite of dances showcases the popular polkas and Mach of this lively collection of dances. Cha Cha A spin on the traditional ballroom dance, the middle group enjoys the setting as they discover the different types of steps for cha-cha.
Nowy Sacz
A medley of songs and dances from Nowy Sacz region in southern Poland. This region is adjacent to the Krakow region.The men demonstrate their athletic abilities performing the Krakowiak.
Polka Warszawska
This dance transports you to the streets of old time Warsaw, where dancing on the street was a happy time. This playful dance brings life onto the stage with the boys chasing the girls, even after a hard days work in the country’s capital. Zywiec This dance filled with stunts and surprises, depicts the vibrant mountain life of the inhabitants of the Zywiec region.
Zocha
This energetic song, is one popular at Zabawas (dances) throughout Poland. The older group performs this skit about Maciek, a very good man, who helps his girlfriend sweep the house.
